Our Mercia Live courses will continue to complement our usual programme of face to face and on-demand recordings, offering enhanced choice and greater flexibility.
Following the announcement from the Government on 22 February 2021, we regret to announce that we are unable to return to our face to face courses from 1 May 2021 as originally hoped.
We will be in contact with you over the coming weeks to explain how this affects your current bookings on face to face courses. Your booking will be moved to the closest Mercia Live virtual course available. Once you have received the details of the new course information, if this is not suitable you have the option to swap to a new Mercia Live course date or on-demand recording.
We sincerely hope that we can return to venues from 1 August 2021 and any bookings on face to face courses from this date remain unchanged. We will continue to monitor the government guidance closely and we will keep you updated with any changes. When back at venues, we will ensure measures are put in place to help to keep you safe and well.

If you already have a membership, make sure you log in to book your courses, as all of our Mercia Live courses are included in your membership. If you are not a member, you can book the Mercia Live programme on a pay as you go basis, either with course credits or at a cash price.

You and fellow delegates will join your expert lecturer in a classroom – just like a face-to-face course, but online instead. In our sessions you can still speak to the lecturer and other delegates, as well as being able to see them if they have their webcams turned on. The session will include activities as you would expect on a face-to-face course, including slideshow presentations, case studies and question and answer opportunities.
Our Mercia Live sessions are available at the same course credits value as their face to face equivalent. We have worked hard so our Mercia Live sessions offer the same value and technical knowledge as our face to face courses. For further details on our pay as you go options please visit here.
Mercia Live uses an online conferencing platform called Zoom. To join the session all you’ll need is an internet connection – no specialist software required! For a full experience, we would recommend joining with a headset and webcam, to enable you to fully participate in the session.
The bandwidth used by Zoom will be optimised for the best experience based on the participants’ network. You can find out more about system requirements and bandwidth here.
Yes, please follow the prompts through this link, where you can test the software and your internet connection prior to any virtual classrooms you will attend. You can check that you are running the latest version of Zoom by following the instructions on this page.
You will receive joining instructions 7 days prior to your booked course date. The instructions will includes timings of your course as well as links and instructions on how to join your session. You can join the waiting room at any time, and we recommend that you try this well in advance. If you have not received your joining instructions, please email the enrolments team at enrolments@mercia-group.com. Please be aware that your course date/time in the autumn may have changed from your original face to face booking. You will be able to see anyone who has a webcam turned on – this will include the lecturer and any delegates who have this function enabled. To replicate the social experience of a face to face course as much as possible, we encourage delegates not to be shy and to turn their cameras. Dependant on your device, you may be able to hide your background.
For the majority of our courses, you can now access a copy of the course notes from your joining instructions, which are sent 7 days prior to the course. The training host will also make the notes accessible in the chat function of the session prior to the course starting. The slides being used by the lecturer during the course will also be visible on screen during the training. The materials you will be sent are for your own use only and you are not permitted to share these with colleagues or to save these onto a shared drive.
Only registered delegates may attend the Mercia Live sessions and attendance will be monitored to ensure only those who have booked are able to access the course. As with our face to face events, there is a cost to attend per delegate. Please email our enrolments team at enrolments@mercia-group.com to book on to our Mercia Live virtual classrooms.
Unfortunately, although we have tried to replicate the face to face experience, the ability to provide tea and biscuits to delegates is out of the limits of our control! We recommend making yourself a cup of tea (or better still getting someone else in your household to) before settling down to enjoy a Mercia Live session.

If you do not wish to make your name visible on the course, please email our team at enrolments@mercia-group.com with the details of the course you attended and we will update your CPD records for you.
